The Board of Directors Role in the Property Tax System
The local property tax system follows the principle of checks and balances.
The Bosque Central Appraisal District (BCAD) Board of Directors hires the Chief Appraiser, approves the BCAD budget, approves contracts, and sets general policies. The Board does not appraise property or review property values.
The directors have no authority to set values or appraisal methods. The chief appraiser carries out the appraisal district’s legal duties, hires the staff, makes the appraisals and operates the appraisal office.
The Board of Directors meets at least once each calendar quarter. All meetings are held in the board room of the Bosque Central Appraisal District (9293 Hwy 6), unless the Board designates a different location.
A copy of the Board’s General Policies & Procedures for Public Access is available online.
